Edun Lake Bare Facts March, 2008 edunlake@aol.com
What’s planned?
This month is rather different with Easter being observed so early on March 23rd. So we will miss our Easter potluck and have a spring potluck in April with our annual egg toss. However March will be filled with lots of Irish fun.
Saturday, March 1st Steak cookout. Bring your steak, chicken or chops and cook them on the grill. Corn on the cob will be provided. This cookout is always so well attended and it is a fun way to end a great day in the sun. Grills are fired up at 6pm.
Monday, March 3rd & 24th. Mad Money Monday. Here is an excuse for the guys to get together to talk stock and shoot pool. Join them around noon.
Sunday, March 9th. St. Patrick’s Irish potluck. The luck of the Irish will be with you when you join this lively group for our monthly potluck. Bring a dish to share and join the fun. Music, drinks, and great food. 2pm.
Friday, March 14th. Happy Hour from 4-6pm. Bring your favorite drink and a snack to share with friends new and old.
Sunday, March 16th. Lucky Louie’s Corn Beef Sandwich and Chips $4.75, 12-1pm.
Saturday, March 22nd. It’s Bingo and Spaghetti night. Come out and enjoy an evening of fun and perhaps some luck. 6 pm. Both dinner and bingo are $12.00, Dinner only $6.00.

What kind of fun did we have?
February was a month to remember. Besides being one of the best weather months on record the members and guests of Edun Lake tried to put it on record as one of the best party months. Our first ever Nude Olympics was a stitch. Of course our games were those with pure fun in mind and it appeared everyone was having a good time. Even those champs at corn hole or golf were placed on an even field when attempting the water run. And those semi pros on the pool table fell short to bola toss. All in all it was a wonderful fun day spent in the warm sunshine. Our gold metal winners were Sharon K.. and Ed P.
Martini Madness Day didn’t let us down either. There had to be at least 10 different martinis to taste and choose from. There was even some good hearted fun at who made the best Chocolate martini….. The Valentine Potluck with picture perfect weather, wonderful food, music by our favorite DJ Jan, was enjoyed by a great crowd enjoying the sun and the warm pool. Bonnie had her jewelry and Marilee had her wraps and hair combs for sale as well as a special appearance by Gus the graphic artist who did caricatures. We hope to have him back another time. What a cute gift for any occasion. …….. and he makes great body improvements!
Lou will never turn 60 again… thank goodness! We just can’t party like that every year. What a memorable night it was with so many good friends helping celebrate this special night. How fortunate we were to have Odessey (Angela and Ernest) play for Lou’s party. Everyone danced until midnight and still could have gone on until dawn. They are the best. Not only did we dance, eat and drink, but we had some fun watching Lou try to break his birthday piñata with a bra as a blindfold. Then Norm D. read an Ode to Louie that he wrote. Here is the masterpiece:
LOU PASSES 60 AT BREAKNECK SPEED
Just after the war in ’47 A couple went to bed with mindless passion And spawned a dude with widest grin Right after ’48 did just begin
He prob’ly was stubborn even then to train Hanging his dickey out in the rain A rascal then as he is now With racing stripes on every towel
He hooked up with Mary, his favorite pal Who set him straight and became his gal Barking orders that fell on deaf ears While Louie gazed a magnificent pairs
He ‘nounces BINGO - - - ‘specially OOOOOOOO-69 While giving us nudies a helluva time He cooks on the grill to a chef’s delight For fun at Edun on any given night
He’s now passed the 60th birthday mark Outliving the warranty with a twinkle and a spark To the delight of his Edun favorite legions Who come from all the surrounding regions
We hail you King Louie with glasses held high And wish you well as 70 draws nigh We thank you and Mary for T’riffic times In birthday suits that fit us just fine.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LOUIE!!
